Hoya Carnosa Monstruosa
The Hoya Carnosa Monstruosa, also known as Hoya compacta or “Hoya Hindu Rope”, is a fascinating mutation of the classic Hoya Carnosa. This spectacular form is instantly recognizable by its twisted, rope-like stems and tightly curled leaves. The thick, waxy foliage coils along the stems, creating a highly decorative and sculptural appearance, making it a sought-after indoor plant.
The deep green leaves, sometimes showing lighter highlights, grow in tight spirals along trailing stems, making it ideal for hanging baskets. Beyond its unique appearance, the Hoya Carnosa Monstruosa shares the same qualities as the species type: resilience, longevity and exceptional flowering. Its waxy star-shaped flowers, white to pale pink, emit a sweet fragrance, especially in the evening. Each spherical umbel can contain dozens of flowers.
