Rhipsalis Pentaptera
The Rhipsalis Pentaptera is a surprising tropical species from the humid forests of South America. This epiphytic cactus is distinguished by its elongated, five-angled stems (as suggested by its name “pentaptera”), forming a unique and graphic silhouette.
Flexible, trailing, and sometimes climbing if supported, it is perfectly suited to hanging baskets or trained along a support. Its bright green epidermis captures light beautifully, and its cascading habit evokes tropical plant curtains. Unlike desert relatives, it prefers partial shade and higher humidity, while remaining very easy to care for.
When mature, the Rhipsalis Pentaptera produces charming small cream-white to greenish flowers at the tips of the stems, followed by translucent white berries.
