Echinopsis Eyriesii
The Echinopsis Eyriesii, sometimes called “sea urchin cactus” or “lantern cactus”, is one of the most popular and easiest cacti to grow. Native to South America, it is appreciated for its harmonious appearance, relatively fast growth, and above all its spectacular flowering.
Its globular to cylindrical body can reach 10 to 25 cm in diameter and features many well-defined ribs. The areoles bear fine, non-aggressive spines, beige to light grey in color. With age, it can produce offsets at its base, forming very attractive clumps.
What truly makes Echinopsis Eyriesii exceptional are its flowers: huge, trumpet-shaped, up to 15 cm long, usually white, sometimes tinged with pink or cream, and extremely fragrant. They open in the evening and last only one night, but their fleeting beauty is unforgettable.
