Conophytum Obcordellum
The Conophytum Obcordellum is a true gem among miniature succulents. Native to South Africa, this fascinating plant belongs to the Aizoaceae family. Its unique appearance immediately draws attention: each growth head consists of a pair of fused leaves shaped like an inverted heart, which explains the name “obcordellum.” The globular body is often covered with intricate patterns and marbling ranging from brown to purple on a pale green or bluish-gray background. Some forms even display net-like markings reminiscent of natural jewelry.
This Conophytum also stands out for its distinctive seasonal behavior: it is a winter-growing plant. It awakens at the end of summer or early autumn, breaking through the thin protective skin formed by dried old leaves. During the cooler months, it actively produces new leaves and prepares for flowering. In spring, it enters dormancy, closing up and protecting itself from summer heat.
