Haworthia Truncata
The Haworthia Truncata is one of the most astonishing succulent plants, famous for its flat and truncated leaves arranged in regular rows, like the teeth of a comb. This singular habit, both architectural and minimalist, makes it a true botanical curiosity prized by collectors. Each fleshy leaf ends in a flat and translucent tip, allowing light to penetrate inside the plant, a remarkable adaptation mechanism to arid environments.
The Haworthia Truncata remains small, not exceeding 5 to 6 cm in height, but can spread laterally by forming a compact and graphic row. Its slow growth, high drought tolerance and mineral appearance make it an ideal plant for lovers of original compositions or small decorative containers. Its dark green to grey-green foliage, often covered with bloom or finely veined, further enhances its sculptural and mineral aspect.
🌤️ Bright light without direct sun : Filtered or diffused indirect light is ideal, especially in summer.
🏠 Bright indoors : Place it near an east- or west-facing window. Avoid full southern exposure without protection.
🌞 Outdoor cultivation : Possible in spring and autumn provided hot hours are avoided.
💧 Spring / summer : Water every 3 to 4 weeks, only when the substrate is thoroughly dry.
❄️ Winter : Very reduced watering, or suspended if kept cool.
⚠️ Advice : Always water around the plant, never in the center, to avoid the risk of rot.
🌡️ Ideal : Between 18 °C and 26 °C during its growth phase.
❄️ Minimum : It occasionally tolerates 5 °C in dry substrate, but does not tolerate cold humidity.
🏠 Overwintering : A bright, dry and cool place is ideal to keep it healthy.
🪨 Recommended composition : 50% of soil for succulents, 25% perlite and 25% pozzolana.
This ultra-draining substrate prevents any water accumulation and reproduces the sandy soils of its natural environment.
🌸 Period : In late spring or summer, depending on growing conditions.
🎨 Flowers : Small slightly greenish white flowers, carried on a 20 to 30 cm flower stalk.
💡 Successful flowering is a sign of a good balance between light, temperature and spaced watering.
