Astrophytum Asterias Nudum
The Astrophytum Asterias Nudum is a botanical marvel resulting from a natural mutation of Astrophytum asterias, characterized by the absence of white flakes on the epidermis. This gives it a smooth surface, matte green to dark green, highlighting its unique star-shaped silhouette.
This small, flattened, globular cactus appeals to collectors for its elegant simplicity, perfect symmetry, and graphic appearance. Its flat ribs (usually 8) are well defined and bordered with small woolly areoles arranged with precision. The absence of white marbling makes it visually more minimalistic than its classic relatives.
In cultivation, it is an exceptional plant: aesthetic, compact, rare, and highly photogenic. It is usually grown in pots, in well-drained substrate, protected from excess moisture. Its growth is slow but steady when properly cared for.
When it flowers, it produces beautiful yellow flowers with a red or orange throat, creating a striking contrast with the green epidermis. Flowering mainly occurs in spring and summer.
In its native habitat, it grows on gravelly, well-exposed terrain, often flat on the ground, camouflaged by its low shape and earthy coloration.

🏡 Wintering: Move it to a bright, unheated location with completely dry substrate.
🌸 Period: Spring through late summer.
🎨 Color: Lemon yellow with an orange or red throat.
