Aeonium Cuneatum
Discreet yet elegant, Aeonium Cuneatum is a Canary Islands gem admired for its low-growing silhouette and large tender green rosettes. Unlike more upright Aeoniums, it spreads along the ground and gradually forms dense vegetative carpets. Its spatulate, wedge-shaped leaves (hence the name cuneatum) are fleshy, smooth, and regularly arranged around a well-defined central core.
Its growth is rapid once established, and its ease of care makes it an excellent choice for beginners or those seeking a graphic plant for rock gardens or terraces. From a distance, it resembles a terrestrial lotus, with a velvety texture and soothing geometry.
When flowering, Aeonium Cuneatum produces a branched inflorescence of small yellow star-shaped flowers. As with many Aeonium, the rosette dies after blooming, but the plant regenerates quickly thanks to numerous lateral offsets.
☀️ Full sun: Recommended for dense rosettes and bright green color.
🌤️ Bright light: Tolerated but growth may become looser.
🔥 Tip: Light summer shading protects tender leaves.
🌱 Active period: Every 2–3 weeks in spring and autumn.
☀️ Summer: Very sparse watering.
❄️ Winter: Light watering every 4–5 weeks in mild temperatures.
⚠️ Always allow soil to dry completely before watering again.
🌡️ Ideal: 15–25 °C.
❄️ Cold tolerance: Down to 5 °C briefly when dry.
🌼 Flowers: Yellow star-shaped blooms in branched inflorescences.
⚠️ Monocarpic rosette dies but plant survives through offsets.
